The last post in this blog was back in 2007. Since then so much has happened in my life; so many heartwrenching and beautiful things.
After recovering from many long boughts of illnesses, I started making improvements to the mental well-being of my life. I spent less time online, and more time focused on social issues, my artwork, and caring for my family.
Through all this I began to experience an intensification of chronic pain I’d been experiencing for years. It would begin by incredible headaches, and lead to crippling pain in my face, neck, and jaw. Often I would be left in a dazed state, and it would last for weeks at a time before vanishing. It seemed to come in cycles, so I began to think it was related to some serious nerve and neural conditions. By early 2009 they began to grow worse to the point I couldn’t function well anymore.
One night I woke up in extreme pain and realized my jaw was swollen shut. This discovery resulted in a trip to a doctor, the hospital, a dentist, and finally a surgeon. Through x-rays it was discovered not only were all four of my wisdom teeth severely impacted but I was dealing with an ongoing chronic infection. This would require immediate surgery that would involve removing a piece of my jaw. After coming out of surgery I suffered from one of my ‘episodes’, which may be related to hypoglycemia. Recovery time for the proceedure took until mid-summer; afterwhich, I opted to have all of my cavities filled. Bear in mind I am terrified of dentists.
Since then, I still suffer from headaches but am no longer suddenly stricken with debilitating chronic pain on a regular basis.
I made a return trip (since ten years) to Virginia for a week-long vacation of fun. It was extremely hot, and I think I lost my sanity there. Maybe Disney World will be in the future..
Between pain pills and multiple antibiotics, I was sick for six months out of the entire year, including a run-in with H1N1. What a bitch that was.
My boyfriend visited in the late summer months and then we headed back to England together to visit family and friends. There were so many lovely people there, amazing experiences, new experiences, and times I will never forget. I’ll write about much of that at a later date..
In September 2009, my boyfriend popped the question, and made a blubbering sobbing idiot out of me. Damn him. Love him. Now we plan for the future and are eager for all that await our lives together.
You may notice I have a new blog linked to this site. It’s my little place to rant and write something actually journalistic. It’s my little experiment shall we say. I hope it takes off.
